Ahrefs vs Moz Pro 2026: which SEO tool gives Indian marketers more for the money?

Ahrefs and Moz Pro are two of the longest-standing SEO suites. Ahrefs is known for its huge backlink index and keyword data; Moz is known for Domain Authority, the metric clients still ask about, and for friendlier pricing at the entry level. Both now track how brands appear in AI answers. This Ahrefs vs Moz guide compares plan prices in rupees, limits, AI features and free tools so you can choose the one that fits your budget and work.
We sell shared access to both, Ahrefs at ₹999/month and Moz Pro at ₹299/month, and we quote each company’s own numbers. Prices are from ahrefs.com/pricing and moz.com/products/pro/pricing, checked on 25 Oct 2026, in US dollars.
Short answer: in the Ahrefs vs Moz decision, Moz Pro is far cheaper for full plans: Standard costs $99 a month (about ₹9,395) against Ahrefs Lite at $129 (₹12,242), and Moz Medium at $179 against Ahrefs Standard at $249. Ahrefs is usually the stronger choice for backlink research and competitive analysis; Moz suits agencies that report Domain Authority and want lower costs. Both have cheaper entry plans: Ahrefs Starter $29, Moz Starter $49.

Limits compared: tracked keywords and users
| Ahrefs Lite | Moz Standard | Ahrefs Standard | Moz Medium | |

| Tracked keywords | 750 | 300 | 2,000 | 1,500 |

Ahrefs gives more tracked keywords per plan and historical data; Moz includes more users on Medium and Large. Note that Ahrefs Lite includes 1,000 credits per user, while Standard and above have unlimited credits per user.

Backlink data and research
Backlink analysis is where Ahrefs built its reputation, and it says its crawler is the world’s second most active. Site Explorer, Keywords Explorer and Brand Radar are central to every Ahrefs plan. Moz’s link research gives Domain Authority, Page Authority and backlink queries capped by plan: 5,000 a month on Standard, 20,000 on Medium and 70,000 on Large.
For heavy competitor backlink research, link building and content gap analysis, most SEOs prefer Ahrefs. For checking DA, auditing a few sites and reporting link metrics to clients, Moz is enough and costs less.
Keyword research
Moz caps keyword research queries: 150 a month on Standard, 5,000 on Medium and 15,000 on Large. That makes Standard too tight for daily keyword research. Ahrefs Lite limits usage through credits (1,000 per user), while Standard and above have unlimited credits per user, which suits people researching keywords all day.
AI visibility tracking
Both tools now track how brands show up in AI answers. Moz tracks prompts across GPT, Gemini and Google AI Mode weekly, with AI visibility dashboards, sentiment and citation data, and charges $20 per extra dashboard and $50 per 100 extra prompts. Ahrefs includes tracked AI prompts on every plan (150, 300 and 600 checks) and sells Brand Radar AI, which it says covers more than 502 million organic prompts.
If AI visibility is central to your work, compare the two on your own brand; both are evolving quickly.
Free tools: Ahrefs Free vs Moz free tools
Ahrefs Free gives you Ahrefs data on sites you own, so you can find and fix issues without paying. Moz has long offered free SEO tools, such as a Domain Authority checker; check the current limits on its site, as we did not test them for this article. Bloggers and small businesses should start with these before paying for either. Our Ahrefs price in India guide covers the free option in more detail.

A practical way to decide
- List the three tasks you do most: backlink research, keyword research, rank tracking, audits or client reports.
- Count how many keywords you need to track and how many people need logins.
- Check the free tools of both against your own site.
- Trial the paid tool that fits your top task for one month, on monthly billing.
- Switch to yearly only after a month of real use.
This approach answers the Ahrefs vs Moz question from your own workload rather than from marketing claims. Many agencies end up using one main suite and a cheaper second tool for spot checks.
Ahrefs vs Moz vs Semrush
Semrush is the third big option, strong on breadth: PPC, content and local tools alongside SEO. See our Ahrefs vs Semrush comparison and the Semrush price in India guide.
Common mistakes
- Buying Moz Standard for daily keyword research and running out of 150 queries.
- Treating Domain Authority as a Google ranking factor; it is Moz’s own metric.
- Forgetting Ahrefs’ pay-as-you-go charges for extra users and credits.
- Paying for a full plan before trying Ahrefs Free or Moz’s free tools.
Official plans vs shared access
For client campaigns, rank tracking of your own sites and data you need to keep, buy your own plan. Shared access on GroupAI Tools (₹999/month for Ahrefs, ₹299/month for Moz Pro) suits occasional research, DA checks and learning. Read is group buy safe? first.
